It’s that time again. The time when we look forward to new adventures and fresh beginnings.
I know a lot of people think it’s cliche to use the new year as an excuse to start over, but in my mind, it’s a good source of motivation. I want 2018 to be about growth: growing my education, growing my blog, growing followers, and growing as a person.
The most important part of wanting a fresh start in the new year is making promises to yourself with little steps that will lead to achieving your goals. I promise myself to:
- …focus on me. For me, this means doing things that I want to do without the approval of other people. Whether this is wearing whatever I want or writing about what I care about the most, I want to focus on ME. I want to make myself happy.
- …travel more. I told myself that I will take at least three trips this year. Now, I know a lot of people give up on this goal because of budget issues. But traveling doesn’t always have to mean flying across the globe. Traveling, to me, means to go anywhere out of my hometown! Even if it is a 2 hour road trip to a town you’ve never been to, that can most definitely count as traveling. Try downloading apps that help finding cheap flights/hotels (CheapoAir and Skyscanner are my favorites). I already have 2 trips planned for 2018 😉
- …make blogging my priority. In 2017, I quickly realized that blogging was what I was meant to do. I love sharing my life, experiences, and thoughts with you all. I love taking pictures. I love writing. I love writing about what I’m passionate about. I don’t want to let anything stand in my way of that this year. I want to make this page to be the best it can be this year.
- …trust the universe. I refuse to let myself stress out about plans. I want to trust that everything happens for a reason, and that everything will fall into place. This can relate to whatever fits your life, but as of right now, this refers to my education. I’m graduating with my A.A. in March, and I plan on taking a short break before starting my B.A. in July. I will trust that taking this break will benefit not only my mental wellness, but my education. I don’t want to fry my brain and rush through school! I want to take my time and enjoy the process. I love what I’m learning and I want to soak in every ounce of information. 🙂
What are your resolutions for the new year? If you hadn’t thought of any yet, did I help you out a bit? Happy New Year everyone!
